Please forgive me if you are reading this for the second time, but I am posting the same piece on both my pages this week.
Many of you will know that last Christmas we opened a Justgiving page and asked you all to buy one less present and donate the money to Save the Children. With your help we raised about £2000 in memory of Russell. We were so grateful for all your generous donations, so we thought we would do it again.
Last week we received one of those free magazines from the local council. In it was an article about the local homeless people. It stated that there were only about five genuinely homeless in our area; the others were all making a “lifestyle choice”. Well, I don’t know about you, but if I were making a lifestyle choice, being homeless would certainly not be at the top of my list!
So, this year we have chosen Crisis as our charity, and ask you to eat a few less roast potatoes, don’t have that second helping of Christmas pud, think twice before opening a second (or third) bottle of wine, and donate the money you save so that a homeless person can also enjoy themselves at Christmas. But don’t forget to have a drink for Russell before you finish the first bottle!!
Another reason for choosing to help the homeless this Christmas is because when Russell was on his USA road trip a few years ago he also donated to homeless people he met. Read the story on our Justgiving page, and while you are there please make a donation in Russell’s memory.
With your help, we can help homeless people to enjoy this Christmas and also help Russell’s memory to LIVE FOREVER.
Please follow this link and donate to a very worthwhile charity, thank you.
